Industry Partnerships
Working with industry, commercial, and government partners provides two-way opportunities that benefit both the University and the partner organisation.
Engage with Students
There are a number of ways that partners can interact with students of the Department by:
- providing opportunities for internships and other short-term employment
- providing guest lectures, and other extension and professional development opportunities with students
- acting as external “clients” for software engineering projects
- attending Open Day and other marketing and outreach events, and speaking on behalf of the long-term opportunities provided by IT as a career
- contributing to student prizes, awards, and scholarships.
Engage with Staff
Engagement with academic and research staff can also take a number of forms:
- Individual staff with particular areas of expertise may be retained as consultants or expert witnesses in connection with specific activities in those areas.
- Teams of staff from the department may be engaged in research consultancies, working with members of the partner organisation to investigate an applied area over periods of several months or longer.
- Teams may be formed from the Department and the partner organisation, with a view to seeking Australian Research Council funding (via the Linkage Grants scheme) for a program of research over a three to four year period, possibly including funding for graduate research students and/or full-time departmental research staff.
Further Information
In all cases, partners are invited to make contact with the relevant staff member, or with the Head of Department.
